Greenpeace and Coca Cola

Greenpeace is an international firm working for the betterment of the environment and protecting animal habitats. It is working in 146 countries all over the globe.

Rather than hitting the road and cleaning the place or making it pollution free, Greenpeace targets the pollution causing companies e.g. Volkswagen, Coca-Cola etc. and different government policies that harm the environment or adversely affect the animal habitat.

Coca-Cola mission was a great effort on the behalf of Greenpeace. Coca-Cola Company used non-biodegradable plastics and the buyers would dump them on beaches, in parks and God knows how many other places. This plastic could prove hazardous for animals, plants and birds.

A petition urging Coca-Cola to start using biodegradable plastic was released on Greenpeace official website. It was supported by many activists and thanks to their involvement it earned 585,000 signatures from all over the world.

As soon as this was achieved, the word “CHOKE” was written on a sandy beach using caps of Coca-Cola bottles. This word represented the message “Don’t choke us with Coke”.

The petition, an application against the use of biodegradable plastic and pictures of their ill effects was delivered to HQ of Coca-Cola in Atlanta by leading activist and director Bonnie Wright. The officials have promised to use biodegradable plastic from now on. That is how this mission was completed.

I sincerely thank Greenpeace for its stance and all efforts to make this Earth green. I think we must support such firms and NGOs because this is not my Earth or your Earth it is our Earth and our beloved planet.
