Wars Are.........

Let's ask ourselves a simple question "Where are wars won? On the battlefield or on the table?"
A simple answer if you ask me is 'The Table' of course because we have always heard that fights and disputes never solve anything its the talks and negotiations that do.
Now ask yourself another question "Did we really win the Kargil War?" No, we did not. Yes, we did fight vehemently and bravely but when it came to table talk we lost. Hence we still are at a standstill.
Our troops fought bravely day and night conquering the mountaintop(A very important post)
Indian cowardice came into play as UN forced a ceasefire to be held in US.
Clinton invited both heads to hold negotiations.
Unfortunately, the relation between the then PM Nawaz Sharif and COAS Gen. Musharraf were not friendly. But still, PM was invited to the GHQ and briefed about the war situation.
Had the PM stood firm we would have a standstill war stoppage with Pakistan gaining the conquered land but as Clinton writes Nawaz Sharif became a yes-man and we had to retreat to our original positions.
Hence I would conclude by saying
"Wars are won on the table and not on ground".
